Quebec’s boreal forest is 297 million acres, twice the size of France, and is home to a diversity of wildlife, including 650 animal species. But it is shrinking every day. Resolute Forest Products, a billion-dollar paper, pulp and wood products company, is aggressively clearcutting the forest, impacting water sources, trapping areas, ancestral burial sites, and the indigenous Innu tribe who rely on the land to survive. Since 1976, over 35.4 million acres of boreal forest in Ontario and Quebec have been logged, and the Chief Forester of Quebec is seeking a 25% increase in logging by 2038.
